Leah Baird

Born: 20 June 1883, Chicago, Illinois, USA
Died:  October 3, 1971 (age 88) in Hollywood, California, USA

Leah Baird began acting in stock companies. After playing several leads in the William F. Brady troupe opposite Douglas Fairbanks, Vitagraph signed her to a contract. She featured in many silent films, especially around 1913-1918 when she was considered to be star quality, after which her career went into decline. Baird retired from acting around 1925 after she struggled to get parts, and she decided to concentrate on scriptwriting. Her return to the screen was as a bit part player from the early 1940s until she retired completely in the late 1950s.
