Just watched Berlin Express today (Easter Monday 2020) during the Covid-19 lockdown in the Kurdish region of Iraq. Only three film credits to Mr Toporow's name - Kim, The Red Danube and Berlin Express. His good looks and natural appearance/style should have garnered him many more roles. Passed away 1993. Curious as to what he did afterwards. Few clues on the internet unfortunately.
Roman had a beautiful life, a beautiful wife (I understand ex-German film actress) and a beautiful house in Beverly Hills, California, where he used to work for Max Factor & Co. as Vice-President for Latin America and subsequent to that position was an Executive Director based in Paris France (Ronde Point des Champs Elysees). Colorful character.
Really enjoyed him in Berlin Express and found his character believable. Great picture above at the end of the movie waving in a scene of unity.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, Brad. This was a film I really enjoyed and it offered a little bit of hope to the new post WWII world.
