Ted Mapes

Died: 9 September 1984, Burbank, California, USA

Ted Mapes was a top stunt man who was usually given an acting part in the films he did stunts for. He doubled for many famous actors including James Stewart and Charles Starrett, but was used most frequently, 17 times, as a double for Gary Cooper because of his uncanny resemblance to the actor on camera.

Ted Mapes is in the centre of this shot, standing up to make his point. Denver Pyle is standing just behind him to his right.
