Kathlyn Williams was a stage actress in stock and touring companies. It was with one stock company that Kathlyn went to Hollywood. She stayed and began working for the Biograph Company appearing in many of D. W. Griffth's early work. Whilst acting in silent films, Williams also turned her hand to writing and even directing. By the advent of sound, Kathlyn Williams was still being credited in films, playing older ladies of standing, until her retirement in the mid 1930s.
