Mary Mackenzie

Born: 3 May 1922, Burnley, England
Died: 20 September 1966, London, England

Mary Mackenzie was an actress who made her stage debut in 1937. After a few years in repertory theatre, Mary began to appear on the London stage. In 1946, Mary played the title role in Jane Eyre which was also filmed for television. She made her film debut that same year in 'A Voice in the Night (1946)'. Sadly, Mary died in a car accident at the age of only 44.

    1. The papers only say that her car hit a lamp post. She had two dogs in the car with her, one of which died.

  2. Mary was my 2nd cousin and is not forgotten in my family. Her Cousin, my Aunt is 91.

  3. Recently discovered this actress, truly one of the greats. Tremendous professional skill, a joy to see her in vintage British films, in particular, comedic roles.
