Ted Mapes

Born: 25 November 1901, St Edward, Nebraska, USA
Died: 9 September 1984, Burbank, California, USA

Ted Mapes was a top stunt man who was usually given an acting part in the films he did stunts for. He doubled for many famous actors including James Stewart and Charles Starrett, but was used most frequently, 17 times, as a double for Gary Cooper because of his uncanny resemblance to the actor on camera.
