Robert Wyndham

Died: 19 August 1947, Pevensey Bay, East Sussex, England, UK

Robert Wyndham was a famous exhibition parachutist who worked for a flying circus and eventually became a test pilot. In 1934 he performed the first parachute mail delivery in India. During one of his test flights Wyndham had an accident, losing his left arm. He continued to perform parachute jumps before taking it easier and becoming a full time actor. Wyndham appeared in a handful of films, mainly for the Ealing company. Sadly Robert Wyndham drowned in the sea while out swimming in 1947 at the age of 41.

  1. Thank you for this. The Captive Heart is one of my favourite movies and I thought he was superb in it. The movie captured and described Englsnd the was it used to be; a high trust society where everyone pulled together to get through a crisis. Sadly it no longer is.
