Paul Newlan

Born: 29 June 1903, Plattsburgh, New York, USA
Died: 23 November 1973, Studio City, California, USA

He started acting in repertory at the Garden Theatre in Kansas City.  After temporarily putting acting on hold, Newlan played professional American Football and Basketball. He returned to acting around the early 1930s and began appearing in films in 1935. Newlan was given a 2-year contract at Paramount in 1938. His large stature put him in roles of enforcement such as policemen, bouncers and guards as well as bartenders, truck drivers and the occasional thug. Later in his career Newlan turned his focus to television and is best remembered for his role as Police Captain Grey in M Squad.
