Ida Lupino

Born: 4 February 1918, Camberwell, London, England, UK
Died: 3 August 1995, Los Angeles, California, USA
 
Ida Lupino was not only a star in Hollywood, but she was also one of the first consistent female directors. She directed such classics as The Hitch-Hiker (1953) and The Bigamist (1953) before moving into directing television. Lupino maintained a steady acting career well into the 1970s and was also a writer and producer.
