Colleen Moore

Born: 19 August 1899, Port Huron, Michigan, USA
Died: 25 January 1988, Paso Robles, California, USA

In an interview she gave in the 1980s Colleen Moore said she got into films after her uncle, who was a powerful newspaper man in Chicago, helped D.W. Griffith get 'The Birth of a Nation (1915)' and 'Intolerance (1916)' past the censors. As a 'pay off' Colleen was given a 6 month contract. She also stated that parts of the scripts for many of the silent comedies she did were almost blank so long as they followed the general gist of the story and the actors said the few lines that were written at the right time so that the title cards could be inserted.
