Janet Reade

Janet Reade was singing and dancing on stage from an early age. She was once part of a vaudeville act called 'The Templeton Brothers'. When Janet moved to New York she started her career as a dancer with the Ziegfeld Follies and later appeared on Broadway. Reade often sang on the radio and on stage and was given the opportunity to sing in some of her screen roles.

Janet Reade made her film debut in a couple of Vitaphone musical shorts. She appeared in only one feature film, 'The Smiling Lieutenant (1931)' in a small role. After her film roles dried up Janet returned to vaudeville for a while.

Maurice Costello

Maurice Costello was a vaudeville comedian in the 1890's. He made his film debut in 1905 and became a star of the silent screen. He also wrote and directed films during this era. By the time sound came, he found it hard to get work in the film industry and he was relegated to non-speaking bit parts and background work, with very few credits.

Maurice Costello was at one time the father-in-law of John Barrymore and is the great-grandfather of Drew Barrymore.

Clarence Kolb

Clarence Kolb was in vaudeville for much of his early career. He performed as one half of Kolb and Dill with Max Dill and was only tempted into film for a short period of time during the silent era before returning to vaudeville. In the mid 1930s he returned to the movie industry and began a twenty-year career playing corrupt politicians, businessmen and the occasional judge.
