Nicholas Webb

Born: 14 March 1954, Manchester, Lancashire, England
Died:  5 February 1998, London, England

Nicholas Webb was the nephew of Sylvia Sims and it was this connection that earned him a major part in his only film 'The Punch and Judy Man'. His portrayal of a lonely boy who is curious about the man controlling the puppets in the show, played by Tony Hancock, is naturally underplayed and suits the film perfectly.

After his brief career in films, Webb turned his talents to jazz music and formed an acoustic guitar duo with Greg Carmichael called Acoustic Alchemy, recording their debut album in 1987.

Unfortunately Webb's life was cut short by cancer.

  2. I don't know how many people have forgotten him, but I haven't. His ice cream parlour scene with Tony Hancock in the 1962 film “The Punch and Judy Man” (released April, 1963) was brilliant, as were all his scenes in the film. David Rayner, Stoke on Trent.

  3. I thoroughly enjoyed his performance as the little boy, especially in the ice cream parlour scene.
