Ruby Keeler

Born: 25 August 1910, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Died: 28 February 1993, Rancho Mirage, California, USA

Ruby Keeler was a dancer, actress and singer on stage and in films. By her own admission, her singing was not her strong point with her broad New York accent. She married film star Al Jolson in 1928 and the marriage lasted for 11 years. After Keeler's film career dried up she retired and raised a family with her second husband, John Homer Lowe. She made a handful of appearances on television during the 1950s and 1960s, but Ruby's first love was the stage and she made a triumphant return to the stage in 1971 with the revival of 'No, No, Nanette' on Broadway, performing 861 times.
