  1. What I find fascinating is that he, along with John Crawford, co-authored "The Ballad of Cable Hogue" for Sam Peckinphah, one of the director's best films, yet he never wrote again after that.

  2. I am Ed's daughter. He won an oratory contest at age 16 and went to work for Orson Welles at Mercury Theater. Then wrote for Ed Skelton and Cecil B. de Mille (The Ten Commandments).
