Barbara Pepper

Born: 31 May 1915, New York City, New York, USA
Died: 18 July 1969, Panorama City, California, USA

Barbara Pepper was a former Ziegfeld and Goldwyn girl along with her friend Lucille Ball. She appeared mainly in one dimensional supporting roles or bit parts in the 30s and 40s. After her husband, Craig Reynolds, was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1949, Barbara spiralled down into depression and alcoholism and only occasionally surfaced in small roles on television and in films. She appeared a few times on her friend Lucille Ball's show 'I Love Lucy' in the 1950s and from then on television parts were sporadic, probably because Pepper had lost her looks and her voice had become more gravelly. In 1965 Barbara Pepper secured a major role in the television series 'Green Acres' as Doris Ziffel.
