    1. Myself included. Johnny was a regular at the Players' Theatre where I was stage manager for a number of years. He was a real joy to work with: Skilled, punctual, professional and a great chum.

  3. I can't express how much I enjoyed Mr. Rutland's performance as Sam Hall at the Players' Theatre and would love to see it again. It was first aired in 1973 or 1974. I saw it in the USA, 1 December 1974 as the epilogue of a segment of Masterpiece Theatre: Upstairs, Downstairs, II, 5th episode of new series, “Rose’s Pidgeon.”

  6. Just watched John Rutland as Harry Champion singing 'Old Brown Hat' in wonderful documantary of Music Hall, called 'A Little of What you Fancy' 1968. An absolute riot, a joy to watch John and his dancers doing 'Old Brown Hat'. What skill to do that and so quick. Kept it so I can watch it again and again. Sheer joy!
